My gas water heater vent currently goes up, angles to the left towards the center of the room, then straight up to the roof. It also connects with the central air furnace vent exhaust.
My question is, can i re-route it to go out the side of my house? Are there downfalls because of it? Code Violations?
This would get the venting pipes out from the middle of the wash room and make it look 'cleaner'.
Only if the manufacturer's instructions allow for sidewall venting may you do what you desire. I am assuming that you have a "standard" (i.e not power vent) water heater and if so then no, you cannot use sidewall venting.
